About
Competition entry with the title "Vreči v obraz" (idiom, ="to throw insults") for the 14th international Plaktivat competition in designing a city poster on the topic of "Discrimination and I".
Objective
There is a successful Ginger Shot competitor on the slovene market, which made it harder to establish a similar product range. The main objective was to create an outstanding brand identity with rich storytelling to attract a wider target group.
Solution
Ginger Shots are commonly marketed through their health benefits, on this account it was crucial to create a good storytelling to point out other advantages and involve their customers through social media. With vivid colors, refreshing graphics and cheeky captions we want to reach also younger targets and implement healthy habits without the worn out conventional marketing.
New product launch
The 500ml bottle is launched with a different product name and comes with a flashier label.
Content Creation
Anything but boring. Funny and bold captions are keeping the followers engaged. With the custom hashtag #shotaday we launched a healthy habit in the community. Also fun recipes to spice up cocktails, ice pops and drinks with the Gingershots are being shared.

Objective
We all often act in a discriminatory way. The creative solution should challenge individuals to consider whether they themselves ever acted in a discriminatory way. We want individuals of both genders to potentially see themselves in one of the situations on the poster and carefully consider their future actions, mindful not to encroach upon someone else’s fundamental human rights.
Solution
Whilst discrimination happens everyday, my aspiration was to expose a discriminatory situation everyone can relate to, in one or another way, independent from gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion or culture. There is a wide range of daily forms of discrimination existing and one of them is seemingly small, but with a huge impact– alleged compliments. What makes them so alarming is that they are happening (too) often and that the discriminatory act, behind the seemingly well-meant compliment, mostly stays undetected by the bearer.

Whilst discrimination happens everyday, my aspiration was to expose a discriminatory situation everyone can relate to, in one or another way, independent from gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion or culture. What makes them so alarming is that they are happening (too) often and that the discriminatory act, behind the seemingly well-meant compliment, mostly stays undetected by the bearer.
Implementation
To show the wide range of potentially affected people, I‘ve decided for the most common real situations I‘ve came across during my research: discriminatory compliments towards homosexuals, disabled persons and alleged foreigners. That people are suffering from the false compliments are shown by the active sharing of stories with their custom hashtags inside the social communities.
Translation
Each poster conveys a different alleged compliment, while the tagline stays the same. The tagline can be translated as: Alleged compliments are not only offending, they are also discriminatory. The headlines can be translated as (from left to right): "But you don‘t act gay!", "Your handicap is totally unnoticeable" and "You speak completely without an accent".
Eye for detail
The motifs are linked to the title of the series, which translates similiar to "to throw insults". Whilst false compliments are generally invisible in their action, they can cause pain like a punch in the face. Thus taking the idiom literally, the color stains are symbolizing the thrown insults. Besides that, the color stains also anonymize the victims since discrimination doesn‘t have a face and can happen to everyone.
